| Following is the text from the plaque on the Wall of Honor at HHS. Current and future Salthawks pass by the Wall of Honor each day where they may be inspired by the accomplishments of some of our outstanding alumni. |

| Jesse Corsaut '48 |
| Artist, Painter, Sculptor and Inventor |
| Creating objects of beauty for the world to enjoy has been the life work of Jesse Corsaut. His career began very early with a one-man show in Topeka at the age of 14. Studying with many of the "greats" at the Art Students' League at Columbia University in New York City, Jesse Corsaut's technique has been compared to that of Rembrandt because his "portraits weren't of the body; they were of the soul." |
| One of Mr. Corsaut's works, a sculpture of John Wayne, stood in the White House during the Reagan presidency and in 1993 he was commissioned to create the Presidential Medallion for President Clinton. Mr. Corsaut is also an inventive genius. He has built telescopes, designed and launched rockets, constructed and sailed small ships and created many objects necessary to his artistic work. His varied talents and professionalism are his trademarks. |
| In 2002, Corsaut traveled from his home in California via train to deliver and donate to HHS an original bronze bust of author John Steinbeck. Continuing to inspire others to reach for their dreams in the world of creativity provides Jesse Corsaut a special place as a member of the Hutchinson High School Wall of Honor. |
