| Dorla Jane Abbott has spent a long and noteworthy career in the field of Clinical Social Work. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Kansas. |
|
| The majority of Abbott's career was spent working with the University of Kansas Medical Center's Department of Social Services in Kansas City, KS. She served in the position of Clinical Social Worker and Teaching Associate, Chief Clinical Social Worker on Medicine and Teaching Associate, Field Instructor for the School of Social Welfare and Assistant Director of Clinical Service. During this time, Abbott presented lectures and workshops to fellow social workers, to those in the medical profession, and to people seeking her expertise. |

| After retiring in 1991, Abbott continues to be active in several professional organizations. She was honored in 1993 for outstanding contributions to social work and in 1997 as the Outstanding Kansas University Social Work Alumna. |
